2015 Wooden Boat Series: Castine, Camden & Eggemoggin

The 2015 Wooden Boat Series will be held July 30th to August 1st. The series includes the Castine Classic Yacht Race on Thursday, the Camden Classic Yacht Regatta (the feeder race from Camden to Brooklin) on Friday, and the Eggemoggin Reach Regatta on Saturday

One hundred plus or minus wooden sailboats 28′ or longer, including Spirit of Tradition, Classic, and Vintage sailboats will sail through some of Maine’s most beautiful coastal scenery – secluded offshore islands and majestic hills rising above the scenic blue bays,  on the way to the pièce de résistance of the series the Eggemoggin Reach Regatta.

Castine Classic Yacht Race – July 30

The race is open to all monohull Classic and Spirit of Tradition yachts with a valid CRF rating certificate. Each yacht must tow a proper dinghy; no toys, please. Failure to do so will result in time penalty and disqualification from winning any prize. Each yacht must have property and third party liability insurance of at least $300,000.

Camden Classic Yacht Regatta – July 31

The race course will be similar to that of past years, going north of North Haven Island and through the Deer Island Thoroughfare. Race information packets will be available at 8:00 AM Friday July 31, at the Camden Yacht Club. The Skipper’s Briefing will start promptly at 9:00AM. As with last year’s race, there will be two start times and all yachts are required to tow a dinghy. As usual, this race is strictly for fun. No protests. Follow the yacht racing rules please! You may be disqualified if you don’t

The Eggemoggin Reach Regatta (ERR) – August 1

Brooklin Boatyard, Rockport Marine and WoodenBoat Magazine have made this Regatta one of the most sought after and attended regattas this side of the Atlantic. Their collected efforts, tireless dedication, and an incredible venue, all make this regatta a must to attend. (wooden sailboats 24′ or longer may enter to race)

The ERR Fleet is divided into eight classes:

  • Vintage A (VA) Vintage B (VB)
  • Classic A (CA) Classic B (CB) Classic C (CC)
  • Spirit of Tradition A (SOTA) Spirit of Tradition B (SOTB)
  • Gaff & Schooner (G & S)

See the Scratch sheet for your class. There will be FIVE starts at 10 minute intervals.  The race committee boat for the start is the schooner Bowdoin. The finish boat is not yet confirmed.
