2017 St Barths Bucket Regatta – March 16-19

Six J Class yachts have confirmed their participation – with regular participants Velsheda, Ranger, Lionheart, Hanuman being joined by J8 Topaz who made her first appearance at this regatta in 2016 and JK3 Shamrock under new ownership.

It is believed that this is the first time that six J Class yachts will be seen racing together in the history of the Class and much excitement surrounds this. A short film of the regatta will be made by OCT Films, and Carlo Borlenghi, the world renowned yachting photographer will be recording the event.

The yachts will either be berthed at anchor or in Gustavia (weather dependent). Racing starts on Thursday 16th March with a windward leeward race just for the J’s. On the water umpiring will be managed by Alfredo Ricci and Bill O’Hara. Live tracking for the racing will be provided by TracTrac. and up to date reports will also be available on Facebook

The racing will be under the JCA’s own handicap system.

The Very Best of the 2016 St Barths Bucket Regatta.

In 1995, the beautiful French island of St Barths hosted its first Bucket Regatta and it has done so in March every year since then. Although the size of the yachts and competing fleet has grown significantly, the spirit of the event has remained unchanged. In recent years, 40 or more superyachts have gathered to compete for the Bucket in glamorous St Barths. http://www.bucketregatta.com
