2019 Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta – New Developments

New Steering Committee for the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta has been announced

  • CARLO FALCONE – Chairman
  • CAMERON FRASER – Vice-Chairman
  • FRANKLYN BRAITHWAITE – Commodore of the Antigua Yacht Club
  • TOMMY PATERSON – Competitor Liaison Officer
  • JANIE EASTON – Treasurer
  • GILLY GOBINET – Programme Editor, Social Media & Sponsor Liaison

Ginny Field, Regatta Press Officer – Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta – Since this announcement, a welcome new appointee to the Steering Committee is long-standing devotee to the Antigua Classics DON WARD, who joins as a Financial Advisor.

The main aim of this new Committee is to make sure all our competitors are happy. It is therefore focusing more on what happens on the water by introducing windward starts and new courses so that the racing is both safer and more challenging. The definition of classic boat eligibility for registration is also under review and meanwhile a new Dragon class will be included at the Regatta in 2019.

There will still be the very popular shore-based parties and social events, such as Music Night and the Sea Shanty Competition, and other traditional events that celebrate this unique and world-class event.

A number of yachts have already expressed interest in or registered for the 2019 Event, such as Athos, The Blue Peter, Chloe, Giselle, Janley, Mariella, Mary Rose and the new Leonardo build Eagle 44 Willpower. A more complete list can be seen on the events website http://www.antiguaclassics.com/registration/

All hope you will be as excited about the new developments and will come and join all next year for some serious racing in superb sailing conditions!
