Vintage, Classic, and Spirit of Tradition yachts, mainly from Northern European countries, gather in Cowes to take part in five races, and in the spectacular Panerai Classic Round the Island Race, organized on the first Sunday, that in 1851 gave rise to the America’s Cup. Last year, 2012, saw a record 83 boats taking part, with the overall trophy going to “Jap” a William Fife Cork Harbour One Design.
