Albert George Strange (1855-1917)

Born July 29th in Gravesend, Kent, England, along a Thames estuary, was an accomplished yacht designer, sailor, author, and artist, having taught as an art instructor at the Scarborough School of Art.

While most designers of this era were building large luxurious yachts with paid crews, Albert Strange designed small cruising yachts, through an artistic temperament, designed primarily for friends and acquaintances. Having designed over 150 crafts of varying style and size, many are still sailing to this day, treasured, coveted and admired by sailors worldwide.

For further information on the designer, visit the Albert Strange Association, formed in 1978 “To trace and preserve the designs and little ships of Albert Strange.”
