S&S “Skylark of 1937”

53’ Yawl SKYLARK of 1937 – SKYLARK, originally Vryling, was designed by Sparkman and Stephens, design # 146, and built by Pendleton Yacht Yard of Wiscasset, Me in 1937. In the early 2000’s she was found in a river Ft. Lauderdale in need of a complete restoration. SKYLARK was moved to Loughborough Marine Interests Portsmouth RI in 2003 to start a complete structural restoration. After the completion of the hull and deck restoration, the project stalled for several of years until a new owner moved brought her to EPB in 2008 with plans complete the project.

EPB built and installed deck joinery, hatches and cap rails and the galley. EPB managed and assisted in the installation of systems including the auxiliary propulsion, plumbing and electrical systems. EPB also constructed a new box section boom. In 2011, she was sold to her current owner who changed her name to SKYLARK of 1937. EPB was tasked with the customization of the interior including constructing a bunk and hanging locker in the fo’c’sle, new refrigeration in the galley, and a refit of the head. The steering system was changed from tiller to a wheel. EPB assisted in the design and installed the stunning white bronze steering pedestal with matching skylight binnacle manufactured by Historical Arts & Casting of West Jordan, Utah and manufactured the ship’s wheel.
