The Yacht Mariella is star of the new Film Nauta
Nauta is a film written and directed by Italian first-time director Guido Pappada and tells the story of a 40-something anthropologist, who sails to the island of La Galite off West Africa to investigate a mysterious natural phenomenon.

Historical:

Designed by Mylne, but built (unlimited budget) by William Fife at Fairlie, was testament of the relationship between the two great designers of the time period. Shortly after commissioning, James D. Patterson, a wealthy coffee merchant, sold Mariella to Ronald Teacher (Teacher Whisky Fame) In 1939 was used in World War II as a coastal patrol boat. In 1946, through the slow process of returning yachts to there pre-war owners, Mariella was in need of restoration. Teacher refitted the yacht and used her for the next 32 years cruising and racing.

During the 1970s Mariella left the Clyde for the Med, where she went through three changes of ownership. Vincent Domenica acquired the yacht raced and circumnavigated the world, Completed an extensive refit at the McMullen and Wing yard in New Zealand, and to this day, can be seen sailing in the many Classic Yacht Regattas around the world.

    Just seen the beautiful Mariella refuelling at Ardrossan Harbour or in at Ardrossan Harbour.
    Must have been in the Clyde for the recent regatta?
