About the IHYC Indian Harbor Yacht Club

Founded in 1889 by a group of dedicated sailors intent on being part of the thriving sailing community on Long Island Sound. The 1919 clubhouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was built by Commodore Charles Wills, whose firm also built the New York Stock Exchange. For over 12 decades, IHYC sailors have been well regarded for their success on the water in one design, fleet and ocean racing with over 300 boats entered in the historic Newport to Bermuda Race resulting in 4 overall winners. They have also won the Transatlantic Race, the Fastnet Race and the Southern Ocean Racing Circuit. IHYC is proud to be a founding member of the National Sailing Hall of Fame.
