Life Imitates Art – The Palm Beach Vintage Regatta

“Jan Pawlowski is of a genre of plein-air-painters. He records what he sees at the moment, capturing the here and now. Jan is often quoted as saying that only Nature can bring Truth to the canvas. One learns technique in school, but one learns Truth from Nature.”

A painting capturing the Spirit of the Show is currently available, but will probably be spoken for by the time of this articles publishing. Jan is seen mentoring a young fascinated prodigy who attended the show with her father.

The PB Vintage Regatta, now in it’s second year, has attracted a vibrant eclectic crowd of Vintage enthusiast. The venerable force of proprietor Donald Tofias W-Class Yachts were ever present with two of Donald’s latest offerings Filly and Colt. The dynamic duo are currently up for sale, visit W-Class Yachts for details.

Also visiting the regatta was Jed Pearsall, and William Doyle, often seen on the race circuit with the beautiful 1905 Nathaniel Herreshoff Amorita, and equally magnificent Starling Burgess 1913 P-Class sloop Chips, currently in Maine undergoing restoration.

The Honey Fitz, which served five United States Presidents, made famous and named after president John F. Kennedy’s grandfather John Francis “Honey Fitz” Fitzgerald, was available for tours, as well as Mariner III, Shirean, Blue Mist, etc…

Next years show may include the addition of a deep water Classic Yacht Regatta, currently under consideration…
