The leading yachts have passed the halfway point of the 603-nm offshore race with the front-running multihulls rounding the race’s emblematic turning point – the Fastnet rock. The fastest monohulls are in close pursuit, while the majority of the fleet is engaged in a real tactical contest as it grinds its way slowly past the headlands of southern England.
