The Largest Mast Ever Made (1931)

1931 Portsmouth, Hampshire. – “The Largest Mast ever made ‘stepped’ in the King’s racing cutter ‘Britannia’ in Portsmouth dockyard.”

A group of men work on the side of the dock putting together a new and huge mast for King George V’s racing yacht ‘Britannia’.

Shots of a large floating crane raising the mast upright. The mast is lifted and secured into place. (The voiceover comments that it is hoped that the King will recover from illness to enjoy the changes to his cutter).
