Coronet incoming!!
Coronet, one of the last grand sailing yachts of the Gilded Age, will be relocating to Mystic for a three-year restoration. The launching process will be an impressive undertaking, as the vessel is currently on dry dock at IYRS School of Technology & Trades in Newport, Rhode Island.
The elegant, 131-foot vessel has been in restoration since 1995 and will be transported to the Museum’s Henry B. du Pont Preservation Shipyard in early December (weather dependent.)
Once in Mystic, the vessel will be hauled to begin the restoration process. In 2007 Mystic Seaport Museum made a major investment to upgrade the Shipyard’s shiplift, allowing it to haul vessels up to 450 tons, a capability unmatched by any other facility on eastern seaboard.
