Hamburg based Brand Marine Consultants, GMBH has been employed to lead the savage efforts to raise No. 5 Elbe.

Hamburg 16.6.2019 – Ardentia Marine salvage company divers have managed to cover the leak in a makeshift manner positioning slings and air bags under the hull of historic pilot schooner No. 5 Elbe. Each of the air bags lift a weight of about five tons, said Joachim Kaiser board member Hamburg Maritim Foundation, and owner of the historic vessel. The hull will then be pumped empty, then hopefully a first lift attempt and swim will occur at the next low tide. If successful a floating crane “Enak” will be commissioned for removal and transport to Hansahafen for damage assessment.
