June 22, 2013 – The final showdown for the big 5 Js, and what a race it was, in perfect conditions. The all important favored starting position was found on the pin end of the line, as Ranger and Lionheart were killing time at the line it was Velsheda, with her best start of the regatta, at speed nailing the start. But with Hanuman’s great boat speed, and talented afterguard proved to be the deciding factor for this last and final race.

“Hanuman over the line at the start, scores an OCS”!
June 21, 2013 – Lionheart enjoys best race so far with the owner at the helm! Hanuman’s OCS (on course side), as it took her longer than the allotted four minutes to return to the line and restart, shakes up the overall series standings with Lionheart leading by one point over Ranger and two points over Hanuman.

“Hanuman wins again, with a great start”!
June 20, 2013 – The arrival of the sea breeze in the early afternoon was a little lighter and shiftier than yesterday, but the J’s had another exciting windward leeward race. Hanuman, and Rainbow were first off the starting line, with the afterguard onboard Hanuman providing the lead for their second win in a row! For the 130 minute tight race, 5.5 minutes split the difference within the fleet upon completion.

Superyacht Cup Palma– J-Class (Three Lap Windward Leeward) Race 1
Wind – 15-19 knots
Sea state – 1.5m
“The first time ever 5 J’s have sailed together in Europe.”
June 19, 2013 – Perfect conditions prevailed, unlike the Js last race in St. Barths, the sea state proved to be more accommodating for all, successful tactics, and sail handling were paramount.
Lionheart led Hanuman to the first mark, were neck and neck at the bottom mark, but at the second rounding of the top mark, Hanuman enjoyed a 10 boat lead, due mostly to staying on the favored right hand side of the course. Equipment failure onboard Lionheart allowed the rest of the fleet to pass, with Velsheda now in second place, followed by Rainbow and Ranger, within seconds of each other.
The majestic J’s, acres and acres of sails, equipment failures, and a close two hour race, with all 5 J’s crossing the line within five minutes of one another.
