Known Restoration History:

Historical:

Curlew III was the largest, at the time, steel sailing yacht built in the United States, during the postwar period. Originally her sails were made of dacron by G.W. Vallentine and Son, City Island, N.Y. and were the largest ever made of this material at the time.

Curlew III was built with tandem centerboards which allows her to achieve perfect balance under all sail combinations. With her mainmast towering 100 feet above deck, with 3,375 sq ft of sail, this heavy cruiser can really show a good turn of speed. In addition with sumptuous accommodations, and with a permanent cockpit shelter, Curlew III is in a class of her own.
