Historical:

Early 1700’s beyond Cape Cod’s Monomoy Point, there was a collection of shoaled land called Cape Malabar. John Alden upon viewing and old chart found the former Cape, coined the name, and the rest became a legendary tribute, that brought unfathomed fame to each yacht in the series, and to John G. Alden and Associates.

The Malabar series started after number 155 was sold by John G. Alden after her first season. In Alden’s words ” A season’s intimate living with one boat has shown me where to improve or given me new lines to experiment with.” All in all 13 Malabar’s were built, Alden’s records show that there was a XV, design number 901A at 26′, but Alden’s family and shipmates do not remember his having sailed the boat.
