Transatlantic Yacht Race – Update

image

2015 Transatlantic Yacht Race – (June 21st Update) – One reason that this year’s Transatlantic Race may take longer than ones in the past is the presence of icebergs further south in the Atlantic. This will force the fleet to go further east before turning north into the Great Circle Route.

The unusually cold Winters in the Northeast the past two years due in part to trajectory and stratospheric polar vortices. Where cold air usually seen from the Yukon, has shifted and has been trajected from Siberia, causing the usually cold weather in North America, and unseasonably warm weather to Europe.
