History
DARLING was designed by Knud H. Reimers and built in 1935 at the Swedish Motala Yacht Yard. After World War II, this ship remained in the former GDR. Over the last 25 years, the DARLING has been restored with great care and attention to detail. Darling received a structural overhaul and an additional vacuum-bonded mahogany planking on the hull. The cabin and the cockpit were originally reconstructed in mahogany and equipped with new upholstery in the foredeck and in the cabin. The boat received a completely new wooden keel with stainless steel keel bolts and new planking in the keel area. On all steel frames (2x oak and 1x steel) the galvanized rivets were removed and replaced with stainless steel screws. The copper rivets in the oak frames were left natural.
