Marga was designed by C.O. Liljegren and built by Hästholm Boatyard in 1910, for Swedish Diplomat, Consul Fredrick Forsberg.
Two years after Marga’s first commission, three months after the Titantic disaster, and two years before World War I, the Games of the V Olympiad were held in Stockholm, Sweden, between the 5th day of May and 22nd day of July 1912. Meantime off the coast of Nynäshamn, Sweden on the Baltic Sea, twenty-eight sailors, on 4 boats, from 3 nations entered and competed for the Gold in the 10 metre class. Captain Fred Wilhelm Forsberg, his crew Bertil Bothén, Bjorn Bothén, Erik Lindén, Arvid Perslow, Erik Waller, and Bertel Juslén raced during beautiful sunny days, but in very light conditions. Unfortunately after two races Marga did not medal and came in last place. The other Swedish contender, ‘Kitty’ took gold, followed after a sail-off, by Nina (Finland) and Gallia II (Russia) respectively.
