Archives (Leslie Jones collection) – The race start of the Mass Bay Indian Class, as viewed from the rocks at the Marblehead Neck Light (now called Chandler Hovey Park).
Attribution Ken Rolt – The Indian design was drawn by Sam Crocker of John Alden’s firm. These would be Design 148 of Alden…#59 Tecumseh is in view, built by my grandfather. That makes this photo either an Aug 1941 photo, or post-war because #59 was launched for the May 1941 season opener in South Boston. The Mass Bay Indians had been called Swampscott Dorys prior to the creation of the Mass Bay Indian Association in 1927.
