WoodenBoat Regatta Series: Event 3
Years Running: 40
Yacht Club: Nantucket Community Sailing (Nantucket, RI – USA) Founded: 1994
The Opera House Cup origins began in 1973, when Gwen Gaillard (Owner the the Opera House Cup Restaurant), along with her manager Chick Walsh, had the idea of organizing a regatta reserved for wooden sail boats. The oldest regatta of this kind to take place along the East Coast of the United States. Every year, a large fleet of vintage boats gathers, giving life to a unique and thrilling spectacle against the backdrop of marvelous scenery offered by the location.
