It’s the end of the Vendee Globes’ first week and what a one for Brit Alex Thomson. First off Cape Finistarre he went the wrong way and at the Verdee Islands he pulled the right straw out of the bunch and split the Islands and kept out of their wind shadow. Hugo Boss is traveling faster than the rest of the fleet and is now out in front. But, can he stay there. He needs to stay there and get through the Doldrums unscathed.
Meanwhile the second incident and Initiatives Couer has the top of its mast broken off. He’s heading to Cape Verdee to assess the situation.
